Bits and pieces

A mixed bag of things.

  • I was really sick last Thursday and Friday.  My boss told me to go home on Thursday.   I don’t get sick that often, so it was hard.  I cancelled our Saturday activities, but then woke up feeling good on Saturday.
  • The fun run on Sunday? Was really good.  The course was completely changed this year, and as a result, was a lot more fun and easier for me to complete. So it was pretty good, despite the lack of preparation and the illness.
  • The cake did not get eaten. “Couldn’t be bothered”. So it went in the rubbish.  :-(
  • Work is going through some changes, the larger company needs to tighten its belt. While this is good in some ways, it is stressful, and some of the more entitled managers/areas are having issues.
  • I am going to try to make a Black Forest trifle for a thing on Saturday. So basically a trifle made with Black Forest cake components. Going to be interesting.
  • Parliament reconvenes tomorrow. This means that my work will get more interesting.

Not that much interesting happening, this is probably a good thing.

    Interesting!
Good to know you are feeling better and I would love to see the cake’s picture

Oooh, I like the sound of a Black Forest trifle. I’m always looking for alternative trifle recipes (my husband isn’t a huge fan of traditional trifle), so I hope you’ll report back. I’m sad the cake went in the bin, and a bit awed at the fact you could do that!

    Glad you’re feeling better.

I’m glad you’re feeling better! I’m sad about the cake going in the rubbish, but Black Forest Trifle? YUM! Sounds like you’ll have your hands full in the days to come with work.

I know I have food issues when I am horrified to read that you threw a cake away and I’m imagining myself eating all the cake. And this is not some noble, “but there are children starving in Africa” sentiment. This is me with no will power.
I hope the trifle turns out well. I don’t believe I’ve eve made a trifle, Black Forest or not.

I agree, sometimes quiet and ordinary is the bed. Glad you are feeling better and that it didn’t totally ruin your weekend.

The black forest trifle sounds delicious. But I’m sad to hear about the uneaten cake. Especially thinking about the work that went into making it.
